This was for my Graphic Narrative course, and the objective was to make a one page comic using a classic haiku. I chose a haiku by Matsuo Basho because it gave me an opportunity to illustrate loss in some form. I was reminded of a lot of my biggest inspirations like Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian and figured a golem could be compared to a cicada; something that lays dormant, but arises after long periods. I wanted to tell a short story of a kid presumed to be a friend of the golem dealing with the realization of the golem's death, and for that I really like the story I told.
